KARA KULAMBU

 KARA KULAMBU 

Onion - 2
Small Onion - 10
Garlic - 10
Tomato - 2
Tamarind - lemon sized 
Salt as needed 
Chilly Powder - 1 t spoon 
Coriander - 1 1/2 t spoon 
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 t spoon 
Sambar Powder - 1 t spoon 
Jaggery Powder - 2 pinches
Gingerly Oil - 3 tbl spoon 
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 t spoon 
Curry Leaves - 2 spring 
Red Chilly - 2


      Soak tamarind in water and keep aside.


      Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chilly, garlic and fry for a minute.


      Now add chopped onion, small onion and fry for 5 minutes.


      Now add chopped tomato and cook until mushy.


      Add turmeric powder, salt, chilly powder, coriander powder, sambar powder and sauté for 5 more minutes.


      Add tamarind water and bring it to boil.
      Simmer until the kulambu becomes thick.


      Add jaggery powder and mix well.


      Enjoy Kara kulambu with hot rice and sutta appalam.
