FOXTAIL MILLET PAYASAM/ THINAI PAYASAM

THINAI PAYASAM 

Ingredients:
Thinai / Foxtail Millet - 1/4 cup
Moong Dal - 1 tbl spoon 
Brown Sugar / Naatu Sarkarai - 1/4 cup + 2 tbl spoon 
Ghee - 1 tbl spoon 
Coconut Milk Thick - 1/2 cup
Cashews - 10
Raisins - 5


      Heat ghee in a pan, roast the cashews and raisins until golden and keep aside.


      Roast the moong dal and foxtail millet in the remaining ghee in low flame until golden.



      Add 2 cups water and pressure cook the rice and dal for 4 whistles in low flame.



      Once pressure releases open the cooker and transfer to a pan.
      Mix brown sugar with 1/4 cup water and allow it to boil.
      Filter using a tea filter and pour into the cooked millets.



      Allow it to boil for 5 minutes in low flame.
      Switch off the flame and add thick coconut milk.
      Mix well and garnish with roasted cashews and raisins.


      Enjoy creamy moong dal thinai payasam when it is hot.
