VAZHAIPOO / BANANA FLOWER VADAI

VAZHAIPOO VADAI

Ingredients :
Vazhaipoo - 1
Chana Dal - 1/2 cup
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece 
Garlic - 1 full crushed with skin 
Fennel Seeds - 1 t spoon 
Red Chilly - 4
Onion - 1/4
Curry Leaves - 1 spring 
Asafoetida - 1 pinch 


      Remove the white part and hard stem from the banana flower, grind coarsely in a mixer and keep aside.
      Soak chana Dal along with fennel seeds, red chilly, garlic, ginger with enough water for at least 3 hours in refrigerator.


      Drain the water completely and grind coarsely in pulse mode.
      Take the ground chana Dal and banana flower in a mixing bowl.


      Add chopped onion, curry leaves, salt, asafoetida and mix well.


      Make small balls and flatten slightly using your palm.
      Deep fry in hot oil in medium- low flame until it turns crisp and golden.


      Turn in between for uniform cooking.
      Remove the valaipoo vadai in a tissue paper so that excess oil gets absorbed.     


      Enjoy vazhaipoo vadai when it is hot.
