ARISI PARUPPU SADAM

Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup
Toor Dal - 3/4 cup
Coconut Oil - 1 tbl spoon 
Mustard Seeds - 1 t spoon 
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 t spoon 
Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 t spoon 
Curry Leaves - 1 spring 
Red Chilly - 2
Green Chilly - 1
Asaefotida - 1 pinch
Garlic - 10
Small Onion - 10
Tomato - 1
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 t spoon 
Sambar Powder - 1 1/2 t spoon 
Salt as needed 
Water - 3 3/4 cup
Ghee - 2 t spoon 


      Wash and soak rice and dal for 1/2 an hour.


      Heat coconut oil in a pressure cooker and allow mustard seeds to splutter.
      Add cumin, fenugreek seeds, Asaefotida, curry leaves, red chilly, green chilly, chopped garlic and fry for a minute.


      Add chopped small onion and sauté for 2 minutes.


      Add chopped tomato and cook until soft.


      Now add turmeric powder, sambar powder, salt and mix well.


      Add water, soaked rice, dal and allow to boil.


      Close the lid and pressure cook for 4 whistles in low- medium flame.


      Once the pressure releases, drizzle ghee and enjoy arisi paruppu sadham with vadagam or papad.
