ONE POT LITTLE MILLET SAMBAR RICE

SAAMAI  SAMBAR SADHAM

Ingredients:
Little Millet / Saamai - 1 cup
Toor Dal - 1/2 cup
Oil - 1 tbl spoon 
Mustard - 1 t spoon 
Fenugreek - 1/4 t spoon 
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 t spoon 
Curry Leaves - 1 spring 
Green Chilly - 1
Small Onion - 5
Tomato - 1
Carrot - 1
Beans - 5
Brinjal - 5
Tamarind - 1/2 lemon size
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 t spoon 
Sambar Powder - 1 1/2 t spoon 
Salt as needed 
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbl spoon 
Ghee - 1 tbl spoon 

                 

Wash and soak saamai rice and toor dal for 1/2 an hour.
      Soak tamarind in water and extract.



    Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, slit green chilly.
      Add chopped small onion and saute for a minute.


      Add chopped tomato and cook until soft.
      Now add chopped carrot, beans, brinjal and fry for 5 minutes in low flame.


      Add turmeric powder, salt, sambar powder and mix well.


      Add 5 cups water and allow to boil.   
      Drain the water and add the soaked rice and dal.


      Pressure cook for 5 whistles in low flame.
      Once the pressure releases, open the lid and add chopped coriander leaves, ghee.
  
                                 

      Enjoy millet sambar rice with papad.
