RICE KHICHDI

KHICHDI 

Ingredients:
Ghee - 1 tbl spoon 
Cumin Seeds - 1 t spoon 
Ginger - 1 tbl spoon 
Green Chilly - 2
Onion - 1/2
Tomato - 1/2
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 t spoon 
Salt as needed 
Rice - 1/2 cup
Mooong Dal - 1/4 cup + 1 tbl spoon 
Asaefotida - 1 pinch
Water - 4 cups 


      Wash and soak rice, dal separately for 1/2 an hour.


      Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin, chopped ginger, green chilly, Asaefotida and fry for a minute.
      Add onion, tomato and sauté until mushy.
      Drain the water, add the moong dal, turmeric powder and sauté for 3 minutes.



      Add water, salt, drained rice and mix well.



      Pressure cook for 5 whistles in medium flame.
      Once pressure releases open the cooker and mix well.


      Enjoy khichdi with chutney or pickle.
